For a while now, I have been writing about fathers and different kinds of them. My previous post was ‘God fathers all’ which means, God is the one who gives children through earthly parents. I asserted that all parents are guardians and God expects them to parent their children in His own way, not their way.
Because God has his ways and His way is where He wants all those who belong to Him to walk.
There is a relationship between father and son, a type which no one will call a religion but a family relationship. Now, we must understand and never forget what Jesus Christ says in John 10; 14 – I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me, BSB.
If God knows you and you truly belong to God, here are three things that you should know about God because these three important things are the major responsibility of God to His children.
- GOD TEACHES HIS CHILDREN
God request your heart and my heart as children, God says in Proverbs 23; 26 – My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes delight in my ways. God is all we need; we came out of Him, and we need Him to live. And that is why He made it a point of duty to teach us in His own ways of doing things.
This is the difference between those who are born of God and those who are not. If you are born of God, you will do just as Eliphaz the Temanite said in Job 22; 22 – Receive instruction from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart. BSB
The significance of being a child of God is being taught by God; you are your father’s child because he taught and brought you up, and this applies to being a child of God.
Today, I want you to ask yourself: Am I being taught by God, or am I being taught by my mind and my professors?
- GOD CORRECTS HIS CHILDREN
Just like an earthly father also does; God is the originator of good things, God do correct those that belong to Him. His word (the Bible) is the yardstick for correcting the vices in our lives as His children.
We must know that the moment a man’s life reaches a certain point and then feels they cannot be controlled, admonished by the word of God anymore, they are already on the verge of destruction.
We must understand that it is essential to receive correction rather than praise. Because when you are being praised, you have to think that all you’re doing is right. However, when you’re being corrected, you can sit down and reflect on your life, identify your faults, and make up your mind to live a more fulfilling life.
Proverbs says; My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD, and do not loathe His rebuked for the LORD disciplines the one He loves, as does a father the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3; 11-12 BSB.
- GOD REWARDS HIS CHILDREN
For every road a man takes, there is a destination, and for everything a man does, there is a reward.
The world was not founded by a tyrannical ruler; it was established by the Creator, who made everything with purposes and values. In Genesis 2; 5 – Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted; for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground. BSB.
One of the major reasons why God has not yet sent rain upon the earth was that there was no man to work the ground. one more thing I want you to know is that one of the reasons why God made man in His own image was that man may live as God Himself is living, that man may be able to continue what God has started by using the God-given potential which God has placed within them.
There wouldn’t have been all this beautiful vegetation that we have around us if we were not here on earth. All these things are here because of man; man was not made for the earth to be dominated, but the earth was made that man may dominate it.
I also want you to know that there are rewards for everything a man does under the sun. God made the earth, God made the man, and God will never overlook any inappropriate uses of either the earth or the man. And in the same set, He will never underestimate the effort of the appropriate users of either the earth or the potential God which has been placed within man.
Conclusively, the above three factors are the core foundation of God’s responsibility to the world. since the inception of the world, God has been teaching and commanding man on what to do and what not to do. In the Garden of Eden, He instructed the first man what was needed of them (Genesis 2; 16-17).
When we proceed in our Bible reading, we have other incidences where God corrects man of his errors, but a correction with a reward.
When man fell in the Garden of Eden, God corrected them of their wrongs, but it was a correction with a reward for their action.
But I want you to know that God didn’t only reward man’s disobedience but also rewards man’s obedience, and that is why the Bible says; And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Hebrew 11; 6 BSB.
